                    We welcome you all, veterans and friends, to the inauguration of this website for
    American Legion Yorktown Post #1009.  This website was created to help us reach out to
    prospective new members, to keep in contact with our members who have moved to other
    parts of the country, and to keep our members informed of Post happenings.        
                  This site will allow us to provide a forum to educate the public about issues
    facing veterans.  They can see that the American Legion is the foremost organization on
    the political battlefield fighting for the benefits of every active duty service member and
    veteran.
                  Veterans can learn about the benefits that the American Legion, the world's
    largest service organization, has negotiated for its members in health insurance,
    pharmaceutical discounts, travel discounts, credit cards, and other benefits.
                  Legionnaires can use this site to keep up to date on Post news and activities.
                  We hope that you enjoy this website and that you find the information it provides
    useful to you.  Feel free to contact us with any comments or suggestions to improve our
    site.
                  Veterans and Legionnaires please contact us to renew lapsed memberships, or to
    join the American Legion for the first time.  It only takes a few moments to join, and the
    price of your membership can be saved on your first discounted auto rental or hotel stay.  
    It is your membership that strengthens the American Legion.  Every day in Iraq and
    Afghanistan US military forces suffer terribly disabling injuries.  A strong Legion is
    needed to push the US Senate and Congress for increased medical care and pension
    benefits for these disabled servicemen and women,... and the disabled veterans they will
    become.  Join us for this fight.
