They learn the practical aspects of government as it exists in New York State, and come to recognize that the individual is integral to the character and success of government.  They also participate in physical fitness, team work and other activities under the guidance of American Legion counselors and U.S. Marines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-8c60a37457fc73f39c11d11e0f8f6e7f\" style=\"font-size:20px\"><strong>Boys\u2019 State takes place at Morrisville State College usually the last week in June.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\" style=\"font-size:20px\">If you, or a youth you know, would like to apply,\u00a0<em>contact your local American Legion Post to inquire about sponsoring you to Boys State<\/em>. Boys interested in the program residing in the Yorktown, NY area and that attend Walter Panas HS, Yorktown HS, Lakeland HS, and Kennedy Catholic HS can contact our Yorktown Post #1009 (<a href=\"post1009@nylegion1009.org\">post1009@nylegion1009.org<\/a>) for more information.\u00a0 Once a Post agrees to sponsor you, you will receive instructions on how to submit the application to this year\u2019s Boys State program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:20px\">The Application process begins in late December and the applications are available from your American Legion Post after that time.
